Everton fans not happy with links to Blanc

Everton are once again being linked with new managerial candidates, and fans aren’t particularly happy with this week’s links to Laurent Blanc.

According to Le10 Sport, Everton will compete with Chelsea and Lyon to bring in former PSG and France manager Laurent Blanc.

Blanc left PSG in 2016 for the same reason that every manager leaves PSG – he failed to win the Champions League.

That said, he is still a highly respected manager and the fact that Everton are competing with Chelsea for managerial targets is surely a good sign for the Goodison faithful.

Everton fans have made plenty of noise about their pursuits of Marco Silva and Paulo Fonseca, but the more experienced Blanc could actually be a better choice for the Toffees.

Either way, the fact that the club are clearly on the hunt for a replacement for Sam Allardyce will be music to the ears of Everton fans, who have grown tired of his negative and uninspiring football.

Kamara has potential to progress at Ibrox if summer switch is made

As reported by The Sun, Rangers are interested in signing Dundee midfielder Glen Kamara this summer.

What’s the story?

With the Light Blues facing another summer of rebuilding after a disappointing season, they’re expected to be busy in the transfer market again, especially if a new manager takes charge to replace Graeme Murty.

One player already on their radar is Dundee midfielder Glen Kamara.

That’s according to The Sun, who say Rangers are interested in signing him this summer, but face competition from the likes of Swansea City and rivals Celtic.

The paper reckon he could be available for £1m after an impressive debut season in the Scottish Premiership.

Would he be a good signing?

Kamara has been a stand-out for the Dees since moving from Arsenal last summer and has almost certainly helped them avoid relegation, with Neil McCann’s side five points from danger with just four games remaining.

The 22-year-old has been almost ever present at Dens this season and has excellent potential having received his football education at the Emirates. He could add physicality and composure to the midfield at Ibrox that they are currently lacking.

Also a full international with Finland, his future is bright and if Rangers can secure his signature ahead of Swansea and Celtic, it would likely only be a positive. For the player too it could be the right switch, with the prospect of first team football more likely at Ibrox than either of those sides.

Liverpool fans worried following sudden departure of Buvac

Liverpool fans have been rocked by widespread reports that Jurgen Klopp’s right-hand man Zeljko Buvac has left the club.

The blow comes just two days before the Merseyside outfit try to secure a place in the Champions League final.

Buvac has a strong bond with Klopp having met the German at Mainz when both were players at the club.

Since the 50-year-old embarked on a coaching career, Buvac has been right alongside him, but now there are doubts over the pair’s working relationship.

According to the Daily Record, Buvac has left the Merseyside outfit following a dispute with his long-time friend, but there have been conflicting reports.

The Liverpool Echo states that the assistant manager, who is believed to be the brains behind Liverpool’s Gegenpresseng approach, has not quit his role but will not see out the rest of the season as he will take a leave of absence.

With the Reds’ most important game of the season just around the corner, fans are concerned about the news of Buvac’s absence.

Liverpool, who had to settle for a goalless draw against Stoke City last weekend, head into the Champions League semi-final second leg at the Stadio Olimpico with a 5-2 advantage.

Tottenham learn Delaney asking price

According to Mein Werder, Tottenham Hotspur have been informed that they will need to part with £17m if they wish to sign Werder Bremen midfielder Thomas Delaney this summer.

What’s the story?

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Delaney over the last month or so, with head coach Mauricio Pochettino believed to be a huge admirer of the Denmark international.

Brighton & Hove Albion are also said to be interested, although Tottenham would fancy their chances of winning any race that might occur between the two clubs.

According to Mein Werder, Spurs have been informed that Delaney will be available for £17m in this summer’s transfer window, which is not a fee that will discourage the English club.

There are bound to be other European clubs in the race for the midfielder at such a reasonable price, and Spurs are said to be keen to act fast in a bid to secure his services.

Would Delaney be a good signing?

The 26-year-old has been in impressive form for Werder Bremen this season – scoring three times and registering six assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.

The 25-time Denmark international actually only joined Werder Bremen from Copenhagen in January 2017, but it has not taken him long to make an impression in the Bundesliga.

Tottenham are in desperate need of reinforcements this summer, but they will not be able to splash the cash in the same manner as the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United.

Securing quality players at a reasonable price is the name of the game for Spurs in this summer’s transfer window, and there is no question that Delaney falls into that category.

Everton have also previously been linked with the midfielder and could yet reignite their interest, although Tottenham appear to be a strong position to complete the deal.

Everton fans can’t decide if they should swoop for Benitez

Everton fans have been discussing a possible shock move for Rafael Benitez, and they’re completely split on the Spaniard.

For many Everton fans, the interest in Rafael Benitez is a non-starter, as no former Liverpool manager should ever be allowed to take the helm at Goodison.

Benitez won the Champions League with the Reds in 2005, and many Blues still haven’t forgiven him for branding them a “small club” back in 2007.

Marco Silva is odds on to be the new Everton boss, but a report from the Liverpool Echo on Tuesday claims the search is not over, and new sporting director Marcel Brands is considering other options.

The report from the Echo does not mention specific names, but Benitez has been linked with both the Everton and West Ham jobs in the last week or so, and only one of those is still available.

[ad_pod ]

Former Arsenal men Arsene Wenger and Mikel Arteta have both been linked with the job, but there is no other candidate with the CV that Benitez can boast.

The current Newcastle boss has done exceptionally well with limited resources on Tyneside, and has multiple league titles to his name, as well as that famous Champions League medal.

Fans can’t decide on the tactical mastermind though, as some are yearning for a proven winner, but others are refusing to take a former Liverpool boss at Goodison.

Man United fans react as club is linked with Mario Mandzukic move

According to Italian media outlet Gianluca Di Marzio, Manchester United are considering a summer move to bring Juventus attacker Mario Mandzukic to Old Trafford, and Red Devils supporters have been quick to have their say on the rumour.

Despite being 6ft 3in tall and having played as a centre-forward for the majority of his career, the 32-year-old has often been used as a left winger for Juve with the large majority of his 43 appearances in all competitions this season coming from there.

The Croatia international netted on 10 occasions – he has 34 in 129 games in total for the Serie A champions according to Transfermarkt – but he is far more than just a target man as he is technically sound and happy to work back defensively for his team out wide – something Jose Mourinho demands.

Man United supporters, who have also urged their club to sign a forward who dominated Chris Smalling on the pitch this year on Twitter, took to social media to give their thoughts on the link, and while one described him as “technically better than Lukaku”, another said he is “10x better than Rashford”.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…

Revealed: Slight majority of Man United fans want Mario Mandzukic move

According to Italian media outlet Gianluca Di Marzio, Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Juventus attacker Mario Mandzukic this summer, and Red Devils fans were quick to react via Twitter.

The link to the 32-year-old suggests that manager Jose Mourinho is looking for a player that can not only provide some competition and cover for Romelu Lukaku up top, but one that would also push Alexis Sanchez on the left-hand side, too.

That is where the majority of the 6ft 3in attacker’s appearances for the Serie A giants during the 2017/18 campaign came from despite him naturally being a centre-forward, including when he destroyed Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal by scoring two goals in his side’s 3-1 win at the Bernabeu in the quarter-finals of the Champions League in April.

We asked Man United supporters to vote on our poll to see whether they would want Mourinho to bring the Croatia international to Old Trafford this summer, and a slight majority of 58% said they would.

The arrival of the versatile forward in Manchester would surely seal Anthony Martial’s fate, with the out-of-favour Frenchman being heavily linked with a move away in recent weeks having lost his place in the starting XI to Sanchez.

Gelson Martins would be a better option for West Ham than Felipe Anderson

According to reports in The Telegraph, Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins is one of four players to have requested to cancel their contracts with the Portuguese club – meaning he could be available on a free transfer this summer – and West Ham United should snap him up instead of signing Lazio’s Felipe Anderson.

The Telegraph report that the Portugal international – along with teammates Bas Dost, William Carvalho and Bruno Fernandes – have all filed notice that they will be breaking their current deals, claiming “just cause” after a group of supporters broke into the training ground and attacked some players last month.

The relationship between those stars and president Bruno de Carvalho has also been strained, especially after they missed out on Champions League qualification.

Martins was one of the shining lights in a disappointing 2017/18 campaign however, as he often caused chaos from the flank as he scored 13 goals and provided a further 13 assists in 52 appearances, according to Transfermarkt.

The 23-year-old showed his dribbling ability by successfully completing 111 dribbles in 42 outings in Liga Nos, the Champions League and the Europa League meanwhile, while he made 56 key passes and won two fouls per game during those 42 fixtures, as per WhoScored.com.

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini, who is also reportedly targeting a £45m-rated former Premier League attacker to ensure Irons forget about Manuel Lanzini’s injury blow, has been heavily linked with a move for Lazio winger Anderson as he looks to add some pace and a more youthful feel to his team, but perhaps he should turn his attentions to Martins now – especially if the speedy Portuguese wideman is available for nothing.

Report: Emery wants to agree terms with £40.5m-rated playmaker, discussions ongoing

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were disappointed to hear the recent news that Jack Wilshere will depart the club this summer after spending almost the entirety of his footballing career with the Gunners.

Following months of speculation, Wilshere finally arrived at a decision on his future and publicly revealed that he will depart when his contract expires at the end of the month. Wilshere’s decision will further transform the new-look Arsenal side as the club move into a post-Wenger era, but a recent report from the Daily Mirror suggests that Unai Emery wants another club veteran, namely Aaron Ramsey (valued at £40.5 million by Transfermarkt), to commit his future to the club.

The report claims that Emery is keen on extending Ramsey’s current deal which expires in the summer of 2019 and talks are ongoing between player and club.

The Wales international has divided the Arsenal supporters in recent years, but his return to form last season in which he scored 11 goals and provided 12 assists in all-competitions was more than enough to convince them that he has a huge part to play in the club’s future under Emery.

Landlord’s verdict

Our landlord believes that agreeing fresh terms with Ramsey is one of the most important, if not the most important task Emery has on his hands this summer.

As the club move into a new era it’s important that a handful of the stalwarts of the Wenger era remain in North London to ensure the transition period is both smooth and successful.

With just 1 year remaining on his current deal, it’s vital that Arsenal extend Ramsey’s contract this summer to avoid any distractions concerning his future when the season gets underway in August.

Everton should forget Ben Gibson and sign Kurt Zouma instead

Everton are reportedly targeting Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson as a replacement for Ramiro Funes Mori, but Marco Silva would be better served targeting Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma instead.

What’s the story, then?

The Northern Echo has reported that Everton are ready to target Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson.

The report states that the Toffees are willing to part with two players in order to beat Southampton to the signing of the Englishman. The 25-year-old impressed in his single season in the Premier League and was reportedly a target for Manchester City, according to The Sun.

The Northern Echo report states that Everton would be willing to part with Mohamed Besic and Ramiro Funes Mori in order to get the deal over the line. Funes Mori has been confirmed as a Villareal player, so Marco Silva will be keen to get a deal for the defender done.

Gibson has been a stalwart in defence under Tony Pulis, playing 46 times in the Championship last season, and largely improved in every area of his game over the course of the season.

Whilst Gibson has improved, he has minimal Premier League experience and Zouma would provide a younger, better option for the Portuguese manager.

Since Zouma’s arrival at Chelsea he has made 81 Premier League appearances in his four seasons. He spent last season on loan at Stoke City, playing 37 times for the Potters.

Why Kurt Zouma?

Despite Stoke City’s relegation to the Championship, Zouma was largely heralded as one of the players who could hold his head high.

Stoke played some abysmal football last season, and Zouma was let down by the experienced players around him.

He is a classic defender who is not afraid to boot the ball to safety yet, at 23-years-old, has the potential to be moulded into the centre-back that Marco Silva desires for his Everton defence.

Everton were extremely leaky at the back last season, conceding 58 goals in a torrid season.

Zouma, who is valued at £13.5m by transfermarkt.com, showed in his earlier years at Chelsea that he has the ability to go from strength-to-strength if he is given the correct coach, and working with the likes of Phil Jagielka and Michael Keane can only help in the improvement of personal performances for the Frenchman.
