Man Utd Set To Reopen Talks With Marcus Rashford

Manchester United superstar Marcus Rashford is happy at the club and talks over a new deal will start again in the near future, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed.

Is Rashford's United future up in the air?

The 25-year-old is currently having the season of his life for the Red Devils, entering an unstoppable run of form since impressing at the 2022 World Cup with England. He has scored 28 goals for United in all competitions in 2022/23 to date, standing out as one of the Premier League's star players.

Rashford looks like a footballer at the peak of his powers – finishing ruthlessly, skinning defenders and working hard for the team – and it is simply essential that he remains at United for many years to come if they are to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford. His current deal expires next year, however, so there is concern about no extension being agreed as yet.

While it looks likely that he will end up extending his stay at Old Trafford, according to Romano, there is always the worry that another big club could look to pounce and offer the Englishman a great offer of some kind.

A new update has now emerged – one that should lead to optimism from supporters.

Man United forwardMarcus Rashford

Will Rashford sign a new deal at Old Trafford?

Taking to Twitter, Romano gave an update on the current situation, admitting Rashford isn't impressed by reports over his high wage demands and will reopen contract talks again soon:

"Marcus Rashford was not happy with recent reports of "crazy" salary requests. He's understood to be really happy with how things are developing at Man Utd and feels success is around the corner

"New deal talks will continue soon – Rashford loves working under ten Hag."

This is clearly positive news for United, with Rashford's happiness a potential sign of the progress that has been made since Erik ten Hag came in last summer. The Dutchman has got the Red Devils playing some eye-catching football again, and with the EFL Cup already secured, the chance of a top-four finish, as well as Europa League and FA Cup glory, this season could yet be a legendary one.

Rashford is therefore going to be crucial in the coming weeks, although the injury he suffered against Everton last weekend is certainly leading to concern. Looking at the long-term picture, though, we think it is imperative that he puts pen to paper on a new deal as soon as possible, becoming a bonafide United legend over time.

Man United To Chase Midfielder Amid £50m Sale Rumours

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United hope to sign a new midfielder this summer but it will depend on player sales as well as the possible takeover.

What's the latest Man United transfer news?

The Premier League side are no doubt expected to sign a new striker in the upcoming transfer window with some big names linked with the Red Devils of late.

Perhaps most notable, Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen are two centre-forwards who seem to constantly be mentioned in the media as possible options.

By the sounds of it, however, while a striker is a priority, the club also want to bring in a new midfielder to add some quality and depth to Erik ten Hag's options in the middle of the park.

Indeed, when speaking on his YouTube Channel, Romano explained that this would be the goal but before that can happen, some sales might have to be made.

He said: “From what I'm told, Manchester United are discussing internally of signing a new midfielder in the summer. This is something that they want to do.

"The priority target remains the centre striker but also a new midfielder is something that they are considering.

“For the names, it will depend on the budget because it depends on the club's sale. So the club's sale is crucial and then we will understand if the Glazers will still be there, if there will be a new owner, how much they want to invest on that position.

"This is going to be important and this is the message I'm receiving to understand how much money Manchester United will do with the sales of the player.

"They need to offload players, sell players and then in that moment they will understand how much they can invest on the striker and on the midfielder.”

Will Man United sell Scott McTominay?

Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and the Ineos owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe are just a couple of names known to have a concrete interest in buying Man United and if a sale goes through this will naturally impact the transfer budget.

Beyond that, as Romano mentions, perhaps the club can sell some players to raise funds. For example, Scott McTominay could be on his way out of the club.

Premier League rivals Newcastle United have been linked with the midfielder and a transfer fee of £50m has recently been touted in some parts of the English media.

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

No doubt, if that sort of money comes in, Man United could reinvest it in some new players of their own, with Jude Bellingham's name tipped as one potential target.

It seems certain that the Red Devils will have plenty of midfield options to consider, so it will certainly be interesting to see who exactly they chase this summer.

Tottenham Could Ditch Kane For Premier League Superstar

Tottenham Hotspur are a confusing club who manage to blur the lines between being part of England's elite without actually challenging for any silverware.

Their pursuit of such a feat, to cement them as part of that traditional top six, was likely the chief instigator behind the appointments of both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, both of whom failed in their pursuit.

Throughout all the turmoil suffered in north London of late, whether it be manager upheavals or personnel changes, there always remains one constant: Harry Kane scoring goals.

The England captain remains one of the Premier League's most dependable marksmen, breaking scoring records at every turn on his way to Alan Shearer's ultimate prize.

However, his is a career laden with world-class quality that, just like the Lilywhites themselves, lacks trophies.

Given that innate desire that he will definitely have, there is every chance that each season could be his last at the club with which he burst onto the scene.

With Manchester United continuing to be linked as each transfer window goes by, perhaps Daniel Levy could seek to jump the gun, cash in on his prized asset, and seek to invest in a brighter future where the team is less reliant on the magnificent exploits of one man.

Who could replace Harry Kane at Spurs?

Having scored 23 league goals this season despite all the struggles, most of what the 29-year-old does nowadays serves as no surprise to the everyday viewer of this division.

This marks the ninth consecutive season where the striker has hit 17 goals or more in the league, and having recently become England's leading scorer as well as Spurs', the £200k-per-week animal is just 54 shy of becoming the all-time top scorer in the Premier League too.

It begs the question: who could possibly replace him?

Perhaps Levy should cease searching for a like-for-like alternative, as one simply does not exist. Instead, he could focus his efforts on the newest generation of striker, who personifies the modern game with fine link-up play and the flexibility to adapt to any system that the new manager might employ.

Few exemplify these characteristics like Brighton and Hove Albion's Evan Ferguson, who has been one such name linked with a move to N17.

Although incredibly raw and enjoying what is only his breakout season, the Republic of Ireland international has mustered four league goals in just 12 appearances as well as a further four goals across cup competitions too.

harry-kane-tottenham-hotspur-transfer-evan-ferguson

The 18-year-old manages all this with a blistering turn of pace despite standing at 6 foot 2, and also the ability to drop in and help with the build-up. As such, when compared to other strikers across Europe, he sits in the top 5% for pass completion.

This mesmeric emergence has drawn understandable praise, with BBC pundit Danny Murphy telling Match of the Day after Ferguson's brace against Grimsby Town: "This kid is a superstar, honestly. He’s got great feet, technical ability. He’s calm, powerful and plays the role really well. You don’t see him out wide, he stays central and is always a target.

“I can’t see a weakness in his game at the moment. For 18 years old, the maturity he shows in his game is phenomenal."

Few could possibly seek to replace Kane and the legacy he will leave, but in this teenage sensation, there is a striker who could star in the role for almost as many years as his potential predecessor has done.

Leeds ‘Great’ Who Epitomised Bielsa Would Be Perfect Now

Leeds United look to be one of the favourites for relegation from the Premier League after a torrid few weeks under Javi Gracia.

An injury to influential midfielder Tyler Adams has seemingly caused chaos at Elland Road, with the partnership of Weston McKennie and Marc Roca proving far too easy for opposition teams to play through in recent weeks.

As such, the Spanish manager has been forced to call upon the ageing midfielder Adam Forshaw on occasion this season, despite the 31-year-old struggling for game time throughout his time at the Yorkshire club.

Leeds said goodbye to one of their best midfielders in recent memory in Mateusz Klich in January and given their current woes in the middle of the park, Gracia may well be wishing that he could utilise the passionate Pole for the five remaining fixtures, as Leeds battle against relegation.

How did Klich perform at Leeds?

Leeds would sign the Polish midfielder from FC Twente in the summer of 2017 for an undisclosed fee, becoming the first signing of the Thomas Christiansen era at Elland Road.

He would muster just ten appearances in the first half of the season and was sent on loan to Utrecht in the Netherlands, which certainly didn't bode well for his future in Yorkshire.

However, the arrival of Marcelo Bielsa in the summer of 2018 proved transformative for both club and player, as Klich contributed a hugely impressive ten goals and nine assists across 48 appearances in the Championship, featuring in every game as Leeds fell in the playoffs against Derby County.

He was similarly effective the following campaign as Leeds stormed to the Championship title, notching six goals and five assists from midfield, so it was no surprise when he kept his regular starting spot under the Argentine in the top flight.

Unfortunately, Klich's performances would decline following the exit of Bielsa and he was used sparingly by Jesse Marsch, mustering just 266 minutes of Premier League action in the first half of this season before he was sold to D.C. United following an emotional send-off at Elland Road.

Upon signing for Wayne Rooney's side, the former England international described him as a "Leeds great" and a "leader," which is arguably an attribute that is missing at the club right now as Gracia's side slips down the table.

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton also dubbed him the "epitome" of Bielsa's success at Leeds and it was a shame to see him depart before the end of the season, especially when he could have played more of a part.

With McKennie averaging a woeful 6.47 rating for his performances in the Premier League, while Klich has impressed in the MLS with one goal and three assists in just nine appearances, boasting a far better 7/10 average rating, Gracia will perhaps be wishing the 32-year-old fan favourite was still at Elland Road.

Tottenham Set To Approach £12k-p/w Star This Summer

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on signing Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka and are set to make him a contract offer, according to a recent report from Football Insider.

Will Tottenham sign a defender this summer?

It appears likely that Tottenham will be in the market for a new defender in the summer, and it has been reported they are in talks with Barcelona about making Clement Lenglet's stay permanent, having recently advanced in negotiations.

Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi has also emerged as a potential target, although they are only willing to pay £45m for the defender, which is £20m below his valuation, while they are said to have lodged enquiries about Aymeric Laporte and Pau Torres.

Back in February, it was reported that Spurs are set to prioritise the signing of a left-sided defender this summer, and they now look to have identified a key target to strengthen in that area, as they are set to make a move for Ndicka.

According to a report from Football Insider, the 23-year-old is set to leave Frankfurt upon the expiration of his £12k-per-week contract this summer, potentially opening the door for a move to north London.

The Lilywhites are not the only Premier League club interested in signing the Frenchman, however, with Liverpool joining Spurs as the two sides who set to make a contract proposals at the end of the campaign.

The centre-back is said to fit the ideal profile for both Tottenham and Liverpool, particularly if the north London club are unable to agree terms with Barcelona for Lenglet.

Should Tottenham sign Evan Ndicka?

There are some indications the 6 foot 3 colossus would be a real improvement on Lenglet, given that he has averaged far more blocks, interceptions and aerials won per 90 than his compatriot over the course of the past year.

Not only that, but the Paris-born defender is also available on a free transfer, while the Barcelona loanee could set Spurs back around €14m (£12.5m) in the summer.

Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka.

Ndicka is more competent defensively than Lenglet, and he is also solid in possession of the ball, having been hailed as "technically gifted" by former Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bovic.

Spurs' defensive shortcomings have let them down on multiple occasions this season, failing to keep a clean sheet in their last six Premier League games, conceding three goals against both Southampton and Bournemouth.

As such, a new defender will undoubtedly be needed in the summer, and Ndicka would be a real upgrade on Lenglet.

Injury Concerns For £240k-p/w Man United Star

Journalist Dean Jones has warned that Manchester United should not rush Bruno Fernandes back from injury too early after hearing how the player wants to play "through the pain".

What's the latest Man United injury news?

The Red Devils battled hard on the weekend to confirm their spot in the FA Cup final after beating Brighton & Hove Albion on penalties after 120 minutes of goalless action.

However, it seems as though that victory did not come without some cost. Indeed, key midfielder Fernandes picked up a knock in the match and has since been spotted in a protective boot.

As a result, the player is now a major doubt ahead of the Premier League fixture away at top-four rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.

While speaking about the injury on Chasing Green Arrows, insider Jones explained that he'd heard that Fernandes was trying to play on through the pain.

The journalist suggested that could have further aggravated the issue and Man Utd must be careful not to rush him back with an FA Cup final on the horizon to consider as well.

Jones said: "He was actually injured during the game and carried on for, I think, longer than he probably should have.

"I don't know if that's aggravated it or not, but I was speaking to someone who seemed to think that he was just determined not to let the injury get the better of him.

"He doesn't miss games through injury, he plays through the pain.

"And while [Erik] ten Hag will be desperate to give him the benefit of the doubt – like, he needs him as much as he can get him out there – you don't want to make the problem worse.

"You don't want Bruno missing the back end of this season, especially now they've got an FA Cup final to look out for as well."

Will Bruno Fernandes play against Spurs?

The £240k-per-week star is obviously a vital part of the United team having played 49 games in all competitions this term, scoring 10 goals and providing 13 assists.

In the Premier League and the Europa League, in fact, the only time he's missed a game this season is due to suspension – showing just how impressive his fitness record is.

Manchester United's Marcus Rashford andBrunoFernandes

With that being the case, Fernandes will no doubt be desperate to push himself to get back into the starting team against Spurs.

However, as Jones points out, should he come back too soon having not properly recovered, any further aggravation could force him to spend a longer spell on the sidelines.

And with a spot in the top four still on the line, as well as that FA Cup final to come, it may be best if the Red Devils err on a side of caution for now.

Tottenham manager news: Levy shortlists 4-2-3-1 "mastermind"

Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to appoint a new manager until the summer, though one name has emerged as a primary candidate…

Tottenham manager news – Fabrizio Romano provides Julian Nagelsmann update

The Telegraph recently revealed that Julian Nagelsmann was a key target for the north London outfit, having been sacked by Bayern Munich only last month.

Now, renowned transfer guru and journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation, claiming that while a move is far from close, he is among chairman Daniel Levy's shortlist.

He told Caught Offside:

"Tottenham have Julian Nagelsmann in their list alongside other candidates, for sure; but nothing is advanced or decided yet.

"Daniel Levy will take his time to make final decision, the board/directors situation also has to be clarified after Fabio Paratici resigned; this is a crucial step to decide on the new manager.

"Nagelsmann is not in a hurry to decide his future."

Will Nagelsmann become Spurs manager this summer?

Many around N17 have pined for the return of Mauricio Pochettino over the last few months but with much of the same playing squad still contracted, it's hard to envisage anything being different to the end of his tenure at the club.

Naglesmann, meanwhile, could offer a similar philosophy but one that can inject this lifeless outfit with some fresh impetus.

His favoured counter-attacking 4-2-3-1 system is similar to that of the Argentine's prime Spurs side, with the full-backs given license to bomb forward, thanks to the defensive stability in the engine room.

The wingers, such as Heung-min Son, become equally crucial as they come inside to support the sole striker and getting the South Korean closer to his talismanic partner Harry Kane will surely reap rewards.

This is perhaps why former Newcastle United and West Ham United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has hailed the German as a perfect candidate for Tottenham.

"I think Nagelsmann is a good fit," he told ESPN. "I don’t know what it would cost and whether he would want it, but I think Nagelsmann would be a good fit for Spurs. Given his experiences at Bayern, he would deal with the difficulties of Daniel Levy."

Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann on bench before the match

His youthful age, at least in coaching terms, is more of a positive than a negative as he's able to truly connect better with his players with his "awesome" and "outstanding mentality," according to Sky Germany reporter Philipp Hinze, who has also hailed him as a "mastermind."

That mix of player management and tactical nous is exactly what Tottenham's next manager needs to have, with Antonio Conte perhaps falling short in both regards on numerous occasions.

Having departed the Bavarian giants with an impressive 71.4% win rate and an average of 2.31 points-per-game, via Transfermarkt, there will be few better candidates available on the managerial market this summer, so it's on Levy and his staff to make the right offer to lure the 35-year-old to north London.

Given the evidence above, he could indeed be the breath of fresh air that the club desperately needs to move forward. He completely transformed RB Leipzig as a club and now Spurs could be the next to undergo an on-pitch makeover under the eye-catching stewardship of Nagelsmann.

£250k-A-Week Chelsea Ace’s Exit Laughed Off

Chelsea right-back Reece James won't be joining Barcelona in the next transfer window despite the rumours of a summer exit, according to an update from journalist Fabrizio Romano.

How important is James to Chelsea?

The Englishman has already matured into a vital player for the Blues, despite still only being 23 years of age, with few players in Europe arguably better than him in his position. Granted, he has had a stop-start season because of injuries, but there is no denying that he is an invaluable part of the team moving forward.

James has been limited to just 14 starts in the Premier League in 2022/23 to date, and this lack of availability has no doubt played a part in Chelsea's well-documented struggles throughout the campaign. He has actually been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge recently, with Barcelona reportedly set to make an attempt to sign him this summer.

The £250,000-a-week defender's current Blues deal runs until the summer of 2028, however, so only a huge amount of money would give another club any chance of prising him away.

Could James leave this summer?

Taking to Twitter, Romano completely shrugged off the claim, saying that James won't be moving away from Chelsea once the summer window arrives:

"There’s nothing between Barcelona and Reece James despite recent rumours as English fullback is considered a crucial player at Chelsea. James signed new long term deal last year. Barça won’t go for Reece in the summer and he’s untouchable."

Frankly, James is one of the most valuable assets Chelsea have currently, and the idea of him leaving any time soon doesn't bear thinking about. He has been hailed as "amazing" by Ian Wright in the past, not to mention the "best right-back in the country" by Robbie Savage, and the hope is that he remains a Blues player for the rest of his career.

Selling him would make no sense whatsoever, at a time when a new manager will hopefully take the west Londoners to fresh new heights after a disappointing season, and there is no reason why his game can't reach new levels moving forward, with his best years still potentially ahead of him.

The fact that Barca have supposedly shown an interest in signing James is a testament to what a special talent he is, and Chelsea's focus now has to be on helping him improve his fitness record and ensuring he is a rampaging figure down the right flank for another decade or so.

Fabrizio Romano Drops Chelsea Manager News

Chelsea are "closer than ever" to appointing Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager, according to an update from journalist Fabrizio Romano in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Pochettino vs Nagelsmann for Chelsea?

The Blues are continuing to work hard on announcing a new boss in the near future, with the individual in question not expected to take charge until the summer. Frank Lampard will remain as manager until the end of the season, with these last few fixtures almost not coming quickly enough.

For a while, it looked as though Julian Nagelsmann was the strong favourite to become Chelsea's latest manager, but the former Bayern Munich man has since dropped out of the race, reportedly citing issues with the recruitment process as the reason for it.

Now, it looks as though Pochettino will take charge, in a move that may not go down too well with Tottenham supporters, following his stint there previously. A new update has emerged overnight regarding the situation – one that further suggests that this is almost a done deal.

Mauricio Pochettino

Is Pochettino joining Chelsea?

Taking to Twitter, Romano said that a deal to bring in the Argentine has "never been closer" after a new development in talks on Monday night. As expected, he won't come in until the summer:

"Mauricio Pochettino, now closer than ever to get Chelsea manager job after new crucial round of positive talks tonight. Negotiations entering final stages — still waiting for formal contract to be sent, checked and signed. Pochettino would join in June, NOT now."

Pochettino feels like an exciting appointment for Chelsea, and while some may point at a lack of trophies during his managerial career, there is more to a manager than simply winning silverware.

Granted, his only three successes have come at Paris Saint-Germain, where there is not exactly stiff competition compared to other leagues, but he reached the 2019 Champions League final with an underfuned Spurs side and had them playing an attack-minded brand of football along the way.

Chelsea have a strong squad that can be utilised by the right manager and Pochettino's man-management skills could get the best out of struggling figures such as Raheem Sterling and Joao Felix, for example, and his time away from management may have refreshed him.

The fact that Spurs fans will dislike the appointment could be an added bonus in the eyes of some Chelsea supporters, given the rivalry between the two clubs, but most importantly, the Blues would be acquiring the services of a top manager with a point to prove.
